UNDERSTANDING CURRICULUM IMPLEMENTATION

Leithwood (1982) defines implementation as a process. Implementation interpreted as a process of behavior change directed by the level of innovation, and in a certain time.

Meanwhile, according to Print (1993)
implementation is a short-term phenomenon that attempts to implementation is a short-term phenomenon that attempts to integrate the new curriculum into existing practiceintegrate the new curriculum into existing practice
So the implementation of the curriculum is a process of acceptance and use of things - new things in the curriculum and the implementation of the curriculum documents to the practical level.

The Saylor (1981) implementation activities as the process of implementing the curriculum plan (program) in the form of learning, involving interaction with teachers and students in the context of schooling.
We will develop a model curriculum implementation there are some things though note:
Stages of Curriculum Implementation

Implementation of the curriculum includes three main activities of program development, implementation and evaluation of learning.

a. Development programs include the annual programs, semester or quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily.
b. Implementation of core learning that leads to the process of learning activities between learners' interaction with their environment, resulting in changes in behavior to the more good.
c. Evaluation process carried out throughout the process of curriculum implementation.

Factors That Affect Implementation

Implementation of the curriculum in development influenced by three factors, namely:
a. Characteristics of the curriculum, which includes teaching materials scope, objectives, functions, properties, and so on.
b. Implementation Strategy, the strategy used in the implementation of the curriculum, such as seminars, inservice training, workshops, provision of books , and other activities that could encourage the use of the curriculum in the field.
c. Characteristics of users of the curriculum, which includes packaging knowledge, skills, and values and attitudes toward the curriculum in teacher learning.
